Wedding Photo Tips
Having an excellent photographer to capture your wedding is a good start. There are several ways you, your fiancé, and the wedding party can also contribute to ensure you get the best possible photos on the day. So as promised in my previous blog, below are some tips that I think will help the bride and groom get the best out of their wedding photographer.
1. Relax: leave any pre wedding day stresses behind. The camera sees all including the 2 little stress lines between your eyebrows. Try to relax all your muscles including the ones in your face. Might sound silly but practising in front of the mirror can help.
2. Be aware: don’t be too overly concerned about the camera during the wedding ceremony but do be aware of it. This also goes for the wedding party. Often they do not realize they are in the background of a shot and will be flicking their hair, rubbing their noses, looking very vacant, and sometimes even bored.
3. Try not to squint: this can be difficult especially if you are used to wearing sunglasses all the time. If you are planning an outdoor ceremony then it may be worth while to get your eyes used to sunlight and glare so that you are not squinting all the way through the ceremony. Start a few weeks before and let your eyes adjust to being outside without sunglasses.
4. Have fun: remember to enjoy the day and play up to the camera if possible. If you don’t feel totally comfortable in front of a camera then it is important to have a good relationship with your photographer. A fun, energetic and easy going photographer (like me LOL) will help you feel more relaxed, and natural in front of the camera.
5. Be creative: while your wedding photographer will have plenty of suggestions, don’t be afraid to suggest ideas of your own. Often flicking through the bridal magazines you might see a particular shot that you absolutely love. A good photographer will be able to re-create the photo for you.
6. Enjoy the moment: with so much going on and all the lead up to your wedding day it is easy to get caught up and forget to enjoy the moment. Take it all in cause before you know it day is over and you won’t get a chance to do it again. Some of my favourite wedding photographs are of a couple starring lovingly into each others eyes, totally absorbed in the moment.
I hope you have found these tips useful. Appling these tips, combined with the talent of your photographer, you are sure to have amazing images from your wedding day.
Cheers
